Dental Implants are titanium fixtures, placed into the jaw, that permanently replace one or more missing teeth, or act as an anchor for crowns, bridges, or dentures.

As a result, Dental Implants fuse to your jawbone, and therefore they provide stable support for an artificial tooth, unlike dentures. Furthermore, implants mimic the way that your natural tooth roots secure your teeth to your gum line and the crown which is placed on top is designed to look like your other teeth. Therefore, nobody will know that you have implants, they will look totally natural and will make you smile with confidence!

In short, the success rate for Dental Implant therapy is up to 98% with age, length of the implant, the diameter of the implant, bone quality, and region of the implant being the factors that determine this rate.

Implants are a two-stage procedure.

A good way to think about an implant is a small titanium screw that is placed by a specialist surgeon.

This is left to heal and integrate with the surrounding jaw.

Two or three months later we build the tooth or denture on top of this titanium bolt.

Properly planned and in a healthy mouth implants are generally hugely successful. Honestly, it is fantastic that implants exist.

They are wonderful get-out-of-jail cards, and ideally would never be needed because we look after our existing teeth.

How Implants Work

A dental implant is a man made root normally made from titanium which is gently placed where your tooth root used to be. It can have a crown on top or be used to secure a denture.
96% of modern implants last for over 15 years. If maintained correctly majority of patients find their implants last a lifetime.
Placing of implants is relatively pain free and comfortable carried out under local anaesthetic. Light sedation is recommended to make the procedure easier for you.
Treatment varies depending on your healing and bone type. Normally you will have your final teeth in 4 to 6 months. A longer period may be required if we need to grow back bone first. (Bone Grafting/ Sinus Lift)
Cleaning your new teeth implant is no more difficult than cleaning natural teeth. We recommend you visit our implant hygienist every 3 months to ensure your new teeth are well maintained.
No, unless its to replace only one missing tooth. For a few missing teeth two or three implants should be sufficient.
Vast majority of patients find wearing dentures an uncomfortable experience. Denture stabilisation by affixing to implants ensure comfortable dentures as they cannot move around.
It will take a few days to get used to your new teeth. After a few days they will feel like your own teeth.
On the day of your consultation you will be given your fully costed treatment plan. We are very competitively priced and you’ll be entitled to tax relief off the cost at 20%. If you have health insurance you may be entitled to certain benefits. Please see our dental price menu for implant pricing.
